ANDREW B. STITH

STITH, Andrew B., Jr. 75 years old, of Bridgewater, MA, formerly of Boston, MA passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2015. He was the son of Andrew B. Stith formerly of Boston and Cambridge, MA and Muriel (Janey) Patton of Boston, MA and brother of Lynda Patton-Spruill formerly of Boston and New Hampshire. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Ilona (Greene) Stith of Bridgewater, MA, daughters Apryl (Stith) Edlund of West Bridgewater, MA and Marlo Stith of Bridgewater, MA, two, much loved grandchildren Hannah and Noah Edlund and too many family members to list. Andrew had a passion for life and an incomparable love for his family who will sorely miss his magnanimous presence. He worked most of his professional career as a federal employee, first as a Regional Coordinator with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census and retired as a Civil Rights Investigator at the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights. He was well liked and respected by his colleagues and numerous friends which he cultivated through many years of service with various Boston social organizations. He was an avid fisherman and loved social history with a particular focus on civil rights and the African-American experience. Andrew was a champion to his family as well as anyone in need of his expertise. Visiting hours and services will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Central Square Congregational Church, 71 Central Square, Bridgewater, MA immediately followed by interment at the Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, MA.
