Dear Family, I am the youngest brother of Kay Mulkeen, Irvings' long time secretary and friend.
I was just reminiscing about Kay, and Irving, of course, came to mind. He attended Kay's memorial celebration for which we all were grateful. A real mensch, if I may use the term.

Dear Fanger family...just learned of Irving's passing. I wish I had the chance to say goodbye. He hired me fresh out of law school in 1969 as I was knocking on law firm doors seeking interviews. He became a member of my family and prayed with me at a downtown Catholic Church when my son Michael was born after a difficult pregnancy for my wife Dorrie...Irving said Michael was a "gift from God".We practiced law together for 20 years and he grounded me in all facets of the law in the early years, instilling a high degree of integrity and honesty which were second nature to him...a consummate lawyer. I can't remember an unkind word he ever spoke of a fellow adversary. I know how close he was to you all and how much a part of his life you were. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Barbara, Carol, and Laura, many years have passed since I first met you (and Linda) and was fortunate enough to work as a legal secretary at your father's law firm. I could say that they don't make them like him anymore, but the truth is -- they never did. He was one of a kind. I never met a man who loved the law more than he did, or practiced it with more integrity. My deepest sympathy to you and Mrs. Abramson-Fanger and family.

So sorry to hear about your father's passing. Irving was certainly the patriarch of the Fanger Family. I remember him well from the sedars, family celebrations, and the cousins club that met for many years with all the Fangers from our parents' generation. Irving has left a lasting legacy which is you, Barbara, and Laura as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all the wonderful memories you will keep in your heart.
My condolences to you and the family,
Paula

I shall always have the fondest memories of Irving, especially in his connection with our late partner Stanley Rudman. He loved practicing law, having a drink and lunch at Dini's or the Harvard Club, and each and every one of his clients. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Fanger's passing. I only met him once or twice. The first time was memorable as it was my 16th birthday and my father had taken me to Dini's Restaurant for lunch. We said hello and upon hearing it was my birthday Mr. Fanger insisted we come to see him at his office where he gave me a gold Jerusalem cross pendant in honor of my milestone birthday. I am 50 now and I still have that pendant, one of my most cherished possessions.
My condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends at this time of loss.

I ONCE HAS THE HONOR TO BE BANKER TO FANGER & BIRNBAUM AND GOT TO KNOW IRVING FAIRLY WELL. A MOST GRACIOUS PERSON. ON CASUALLY MEETING ME ON TREMONT STREET WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS CELEBRATING HER 16TH BIRTHDAY, IRVING INVITED US UP TO THE OFFICE WHEREUPON HE GAVE HER A JERUSALEM CROSS FOR HER BIRTHDAY PRESENT. SHE STILL HAS IT TO THIS DAY. A KIND, WARM MAN AND I CELEBRATE HIS EXISTENCE. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE DINI RESTAURANT PLACEMAT RECEIPTS?
