Powers, Josephine C. (Lynch) Age 91 of Arlington, MA on October 20, 2015 surrounded by her family. Daughter of George Lynch, Sr. and Josephine C. (Leonard) of Wilmington, MA. Wife of the late David F. Powers; Mother of Attorney David J. and his wife, Mary Ellen of Andover, MA; Mary Powers and her partner, John Looney of Falmouth, MA, and Diane Powers of Portland, ME. Grandmother of Jennifer Powers and her husband Matthew Cavenaugh of New York, NY; David J. and his wife, Beatriz Navarro of Washington, D.C; and Jacquelyn Powers of South Boston. Great Grandmother of George Matthew and Henry David Cavenaugh of NYC. Sister of the late Paul Lynch, Sr; Arthur Lynch, Sr; George Lynch, Jr; William Lynch, Sr; Alfred Lynch, Sr; Adeline Riley; Annie Baldwin, all of Wilmington, MA and Sister Marie Carmel of South Boston. Josephine graduated from Wilmington HS in 1942 where she was captain of the girl's basketball team. She then worked in Boston as a secretary, where she met Dave Powers, her future husband. They were married in 1952 and lived in Everett, MA, before relocating to McLean, Virginia in 1961, when Dave worked as a Special Assistant to President Kennedy. They returned to Massachusetts in 1967 settling in Arlington. Jo spent many enjoyable hours driving her children to athletic events and horse shows. She passed on her love of animals to her children and many dogs, cats, and horses became part of the family. Jo loved buying presents and truly enjoyed giving more than receiving. She loved music, dancing, the color purple and sunbathing on the deck. Her faith was a huge part of her everyday life. Jo loved her children, her grandchildren, and her great-children and she knew that time spent with her family was to be treasured. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Rt. 60, (adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Friday, October 30th from 4-8 pm.
