I am 75 now and was in high school when York played at UNC from which I later graduated. I attended the game in which he made 21 straight free throws. I loved watching him shoot from the outside and his precision on the line. He inspired me and I copied his form but not his speed. In 1961 I made 60 in a row in a National Boys Club contest because of him.
I am saddened to learn of his death almost two tears ago. What a great man and teacher. The things he did for the game and for other people will always be remembered.

I came across the news about York just recently. He was my boss in the 80's at PUMA in Framingham. He was a wonderful man and I have some great memories of working with York and at PUMA. He took me under his wing at PUMA and gave me a great opportunity to work with him and in the Promotions Department. All my best to his family! Jeanene

York and I were "hall mates" in Winston Dorm at UNC during 1959. We had fun times together including the time my co-rec partner defeated York and his co-rec partner in bad mitten! He was a great basketball player and a "good guy" !

I was a 12 year old fan of York and UNC in 1960. He was by far may favorite player. I extend my sympathy to the entire Larese family at this time. Because of him my love of basketball grew. May God continue to bless your family.

He lit up every room he entered. At Converse he made me feel welcome. He was blessed with incredible basketball skill, but his greatest asset was that he made a positive difference in everyone he touched. I am certain I speak each of York's many Converse friends..." Miss you York, Rest in Peace
