OWEN KITTREDGE Obituary

KITTREDGE, Owen Joseph "Joe" Age 91, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away February 13, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Annetta, St. Petersburg, son, Bruce, Marshfield, grandsons, Shawn, of Hingham, John Taylor, Sandwich, three great grandchildren, also of Hingham, daughter-in-law, Jane Kittredge, Sandwich, three nieces: Claire Cataldi, Clinton, Maureen Cataldi, New York, and Carol Theroux, Agawan. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Owen James and Julia Kittredge, natives of Ireland, a brother in infancy, sisters, Sister Mary Claire Kittredge and Rita Kittredge Cataldi, his first wife, Jeannette, and son, Walter of ALS on 11/18/14. Owen graduated from Boston Latin School, has an AB degree from Bates College, and a Master's Degree, Boston University. As an educator, he taught, was a guidance counselor and an administrator in both public and private schools, retiring from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Dept. of Education, Sept. 15, 1981. As an infant, baptized Catholic, he is best known as a Christian. A Mason and a WWII veteran, he served in the Navy as a radioman aboard a submarine in the Pacific. Graveside services will be held at a later date. R. Lee Williams & Son Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on Owen's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for Owen's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."

We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and all SUBVETS and their families have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Owen will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin, a member of our Greatest Generation, and a great Patriot.
