1944 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
EVANS, Mary Elizabeth 71 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Mary was born in Lakeland, FL on October 21, 1944. She was the daughter of Fred W. and Mary (Klees) Evans. Mary was an avid learner who knew a lot about a myriad of topics! She had varied careers in radio and television arts, plumbing, medical, teaching, finally finding her true passion in police work. She joined the Boston Police Force as police woman, working her way up the ranks to become Captain, one of the first two woman Captains in the Boston Police Dept. Her passion was working with the community and children. She was awarded many commendations and received many accolades for her efforts. She was with Boston's finest for 20 years before retiring to her dream home in Maine. Mary was a voracious reader, book seller, philanthropist, but most importantly, dearest sister, aunt, great aunt and friend! She will be forever in the hearts of her siblings: Guy (Mary), Fred (Chris), Joni (Bill) and Anne. Mary will be forever remembered by her nieces and nephew and all the great nieces and nephews as well as her many dear friends. A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2 pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, WELLS, ME, with Rev. Burton Howe.
