I'm so so sad you have left us. I'd hoped one day to see you again and be able to tell you to your sweet face what a wonderful little boy you were. What joy you and your brother brought to my life...
I guess I will have to wait till heaven. Love you Garrett.
My deepest sympathy to the Lonergan family and all who loved Garrett.

Meeting Garrett for the first time when he was little more than a baby, it was striking to note just how bright and articulate he was. He asked insightful and thoughtful questions in a surprisingly straightforward manner that would have been sophisticated for a 10 year old! He also demonstrated an amazing memory for facts when he was able to provide Baseball stats at about 3 yrs. old that Kevin had told him about a year before. The world has surely lost a great mind in addition to a brother, uncle, nephew and friend. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved him.

This obituary perfectly captures Garrett's essence. I am smiling now thinking of his wry but somehow warm wit.

I can't describe in words how heartbroken I am over the sudden passing of one of my closest friends. We had so many adventures and memories yet to be made, and countless anecdotes (unfunny to most others) to bring awkward grins to our future faces.
So many of my fondest and most vivid memories include Garrett, and that's not a coincidence; all those close to him can say the same. He had the unique ability to turn a typical moment into something worth remembering. It's that, along with his incomparable loyalty as a friend, and everything he was as a person, are what I, and so many others, will miss about Garrett.
Farewell, Garrett. You will always be a part of me.
