HANLON, James D. Of Harwich Port, MA, formerly of Staten Island, NY, died on March 3, 2017. He was born in Newark, NJ on March 30, 1927, and raised in Arlington, MA. He was the son of the late Daniel J. and Helen C. Hanlon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice E. (Whalen), and his six children: Alice H. and her husband,Thomas E. Peisch of Wellesley; Daniel J. and his wife, Annice, Hanlon of LaGrange, Il; Mary Ellen and her husband,Karl, Jacob of Sandwich; Eileen E. Hanlon of Chatham; James V. Hanlon of Harwich Port;John C. and his wife, Sherry, Costa Hanlon of Taunton. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-children: Philip,Alice and Andrew Peisch; Patrick, Sarah and James Hanlon; Kaitlin Jacob Quine, Lindsay, Kristin and Kyle Jacob; Christopher and Delano Costa Hanlon; and Jack and Teddy Peisch. He was a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy Class of 1947, the College of the Holy Cross Class of 1952 and Harvard Law School Class of 1957. Served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, and spent his career in New York City as a maritime lawyer, and as an executive at Pouch Terminal, Inc. He lived in Staten Island, N.Y. for 40 years before retiring to Harwich Port. Funeral from the Morris, O'Connor and Blute Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Avenue, Chatham, MA, on Wednesday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of your choice.
