Of Mashpee, formerly of Wilmington, September 13, 2007 in South Dennis. Beloved husband for 52 years of Patricia E. (Mathews) Gately. Devoted father of Lisa M. Sullivan of Fitzwilliam, NH, William F.C. Gately and his wife Jean E. of Wilmington, MA, Erin M.Richcreek and her husband Donald J. of Sandwich, MA. Brother of the late Helen Gately and Theresa Dean, currently of Everett. Loving grandfather of John P. Sullivan Jr, Courtney Greenhalgh, Donald Wm. Richcreek, Liam and Fiona Gately. Cherished great grandfather of Ericka J. and John A. Greenhalgh. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews. Veteran of WWII, serving as an aviation machinist mate USN. Proud member of Local 22 Labor Union, Boston MA. Visiting hours will be from 2:00- 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 16th in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., at Route 151, MASHPEE, MA 02649. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 17th at Christ the King Church, Mashpee Commons, Mashpee, MA. Burial will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. If desired please make donations in memory of Bill to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, please make note to assign donation to Research.
