Mr. Murphy was my fifth grade teacher when I attended the Charles H Taylor School in 1961. Though he projected an image of strict discipline, once you got to know him, he was one of the warmest and supportive teachers I ever had. His confidence in me stayed with me throughout my academic and professional career - through a PhD from MIT - and now as a director of a lboratory at Orbital Sciences in VA. He was a great teacher and a gr4eat human being - I still remember him sitting in the stands at my Dorchester Little League games. I will miss him and will always remain grateful to him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary at this time. Our families have been friends since Mary Tuohey and Eleanor McManus were children, over a 100 yrs. Billy was a wonderful and devoted son to his mother Mary and his sister Mary. He was a good friend to many and will be missed.
