Joseph A. Failla

FAILLA Joseph A. Failla, age 65, formerly of Boston, died peacefully, Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Quincy Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, raised and educated in Boston schools and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. He has lived in Quincy for forty-three years. Joseph was employed as a school custodian for the City of Boston for thirty years. He has been currently assigned at the Blackstone Elementary School in the South End for many years. Previously he had worked at the Boston Gear Works in Quincy. Joseph was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 star. He enjoyed camping and travelling. Joseph was devoted to his family and especially to his grandchildren. Beloved husband for forty-three years of Marion A. (Goss) Failla. Devoted father of Joseph A. Failla, Jr. and his wife Heather of Quincy and Andrea L. Failla of Quincy. Loving grandfather of Katherine, Kevin, Krysta and Keith. Cherished great grandfather of Gianna, Sophia and Benjamin. Dear brother of Lorraine Doherty of Hull, Annette Shipley of Chelsea and Joanne Mallen of FL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Tuesday, December 10th at 10:30 A.M. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home Monday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
