JOHNSON Ambrose F., 95, died Wednesday, June 12 2013 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale. He leaves his second wife of 40 years, Bernadine (Carman) Johnson, his sons, Andrew Ambrose Johnson and Allen Johnson; his daughters, Jerline Johnson and Fannie (Johnson) Goodman; and many other family members including grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was pre-deceased by his first wife Lurleaner (Robinson) Johnson; his son Albert Johnson and his daughter Kathleen Johnson. Born in Cary, Mississippi, the son of Lee and Matilde Johnson, he later moved to Massachusetts following his marriage to his first wife and the birth of his six children. After a decorated service during World War II, Mr. Johnson was employed as a projectionist in many movie houses within the city of Boston. Mr. Johnson and his family were members of Greater Zion Church of God where he served in the capacity of deacon for more than forty five years, distinguishing himself as the longest serving deacon within the congregation. Mr. Johnson will be remembered as a family man much loved and respected within his community, one who enjoyed invention and electronics, was an avid collector and had a great love of movies and animals. A Viewing will be held Saturday, June 22nd at 9:30am followed by Funeral Service at 10:30 at Greater Zion Church of God, 70 Wayland Avenue in Dorchester.
