PRESTERA Anthony “Tony”, of Whitman formerly of South Weymouth, Plymouth and Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on February 21, 2015. Tony was born in the North End and raised in Jamaica Plain, Boston to the late Antonio and Frances (Russo) Prestera of Calabria, Italy. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Frances (Craig) Prestera. Devoted father of Theresa Doherty and her husband Mark of Whitman, Elizabeth Whittaker and her husband Mark of Plymouth and Marie DiVito and her husband Michael of South Weymouth. Treasured “Grandpa” of Eric and Jeremy Ashe, Michael, Melissa and Andrew Whittaker, Ian Maguire, Sara DiVito and the late Matthew Whittaker. Cherished companion of Ann Smith of Stoughton. Lovingly remembered by Annelise Pfeiffer, Caitlin Geer, Lindsay Shields and Colleen Pascarelli. Affectionately known as “Timmy” to his brothers and sisters, he is survived by his sister, Catherine Rouse of Waltham and brother, Joseph Prestera and his wife Esther of Newton. Predeceased by his brother, Francis, sister, Marion Campana and her husband Eddie, and brother in law Arthur Rouse. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant Street South Weymouth at 10:30 A.M. Burial to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tony may be made to the New England Home for the Deaf, Development Office, 154-160 Water Street, Danvers, MA 01923 or The Deaf Apostolate, 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.
