POWERS Edward Leo Powers, 93 years of age, a devout believer in Jesus, passed away peacefully in his home in Braintree on Saturday, May 28, 2016. He was born in Boston. For over 30 years, he had been a roadway construction Foreman for the City of Boston. He also had been an Army soldier in WWII. He was a devoted family man who in his later years enjoyed Scrabble and solving crossword puzzles. He was an avid Bible reader. He is survived by his wife Pauline M. Powers of Braintree. Edward was the devoted father of Charlene Perry of Braintree; Lillian Murphy of Duxbury and Loretta Dyette of New Hampshire. Edward was the father of the late Edward Powers, Jr. Edward leaves behind his brother, William “Billy” Powers of Brockton. Edward also leaves behind his sister June Douglas of Poway, CA. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck Russell Peck Funeral Homes, at 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Wednesday, June 1, from 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. The funeral service at Peck Funeral Homes, will be on Thursday June 2, at 11:00 A.M. officiated by Pastor Scott Killian of the South Congregational Church of Braintree. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery on West Street in Braintree.
