MIZELL Eugene Mizell, 80, died Saturday July 20, 2013 at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia. Born and raised in Talbotton, Georgia, the son of John and Katie Mizell, he was a lifelong resident of Holbrook, Massachusetts. He moved to Boston in 1952. Early on, he worked at Harvard Folding Box Company, and later at Allied Containers, a job from which he retired as a die maker. His love for singing led him to start the group, The Golden Travelers, a gospel group which performed at various churches around Boston. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013; 11:00 A.M. at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, 923 Valleybrook Road Decatur, Georgia. Bishop James H. Morton, officiating. The remains will be placed in state at 9:30 A.M. Interment Kennedy Memorial Gardens. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Doretha Doddy Mizell; daughter, Cheryl Mizell Horton (Eddie), of Decatur, GA; sons, Steven Mizell (Gwen), of St. Louis, MO and Kevin Mizell (Xundrann), of Decatur, GA; six grandchildren, and many close relatives and friends.
