ANNIS Eva Jean (Burke) Annis of Weymouth, 88 years of age, was called home to the Lord after a battle with Leukemia on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Eva was the devoted wife of the late Walter H. Annis former Deputy Chief of the Braintree Fire Department who passed away in 1996. She is survived by three loving children; Bradley H. Annis, Captain of the Boston Fire Department residing in Hanson, Allen W. Annis, member of Carpenter’s Local #33 Boston, married to Nora Annis of Abington, and Barbara J. Ratcliffe, a teacher at the Oliver Ames High School in Easton, married to Mark Ratcliffe of Mansfield. Eva was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren; Amanda, Andrew, Breda, and Allen Annis, Abigail Eustis, and Eva and Nathan Ratcliffe. She was the adoring great grandmother of Brody and Isaac Annis and Gabriel Eustis. Eva was one of nine children of John and Martha (Connors) Burke. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce E. King of Quincy and Barbara J. Norris of South Weymouth. Eva graduated from Braintree High School and lived in Braintree until after her husband’s death. Eva then lived in Rockland and moved to South Weymouth recently. After receiving her education, she was employed by the C. Crawford Hollidge Company in Boston. When her children were older, she was an administrative assistant for the South Shore Brain Injured Children’s Center. Eva was a lifelong devoted member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Braintree and belonged to the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School for 35 years. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Thursday, March 3, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Her Funeral Service will be held at the Heritage United Methodist Church, 236 Grove Street, Braintree on Friday, March 4, at 11:00 A.M. The Reverend Philip Berger will officiate. Burial will follow at Braintree Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Heritage United Methodist Church at the address above.
