THOMPSON Francis G. “Duke” of Braintree formerly of Dorchester passed away April 23, 2014 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Abina C. “Abby” (Murphy) Thompson. Son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Harrington) Thompson. Loving father of Robert Thompson and his wife Elizabeth of Quincy and Karen Glikin and her husband David of Braintree. Dear grandfather of Christopher and his wife Elizabeth Thompson of W. Roxbury, Jay Thompson Glikin of NM, Abby Thompson Glikin and Bernadette Thompson Glikin and her fianc Chris Marino of Braintree. Also survived by his great grandson Liam F. Thompson and his nephew Paul Thompson. Duke was born in Boston grew up in Dorchester, graduated from Boston English High, and Franklin Institute. He was a teacher at Franklin Institute where he taught for 37 years. He served in the US Army during WW II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and the Asiatic Pacific Theater as well as the Philippines. He was a member of the William G. Walsh Veteran Post Dorchester. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., BRAINTREE, MA. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, So. Braintree Sq., at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
