SLAVITTER Fred died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 30, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Irma, his daughter Suzanne and her husband Daniel Chavez and son Larry. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1934 he graduated RPI in Troy, NY in 1956 and was a mechanical engineer until he retired from Polaroid after 25 years. During that time he continued his education and earned two Masters Degrees from Northeastern and Babson. Fred and Irma loved to travel with their family and friends and spent winters in Southern California and summers in Newport, RI at the beach. They were founding members of Temple Aliyah in Needham where Fred was a Past President. Fred was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family and doing work around his house. He will truly be missed by his loving family and friends. Services at Temple Aliyah, 1664 Central Ave., Needham on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Burial at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Following burial, memorial observance will be at the Slavitter residence until 4:00 P.M. and continuing 7:00-9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M.
