ROWE Helen Martha (formerly Washburn) of Winthrop passed away on November 3, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She was 84 years old. Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Washburn. A resident of Winthrop for many years, she was a teacher in Winthrop High School for 23 years. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis James Rowe Jr., and the loving mother of Francis James Rowe III, Nicholas and his wife Linda Rowe, Charles and his wife Delmy and the late Thomas Treen Rowe of Winthrop. She was the cherished grandmother of Francis James Rowe IV, Susan Rowe, Libby Rowe, Justin Rowe and Elizabeth Rowe. She was the adored great grandmother of Francis James Rowe V, and Raine Sena. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rowe was a High School English teacher in the Winthrop, Massachusetts school system for 23 years. She graduated from Roxbury Notre Dame Academy, attended Regis College, and graduated from Boston University with a Master’s Degree in English Literature.
