JENNINGS Rev. Henry J. “Skip” of St. Joseph’s Parish, Union Square, Somerville on July 13, 2013 at age 83. Eldest son of the late Harry and Mary (Genter) Jennings. Cherished brother of Catherine and her husband James Savage, Louis Jennings and his wife Carole, all of Norwood. Devoted uncle of Louis F. Jennings, Jr., Christine E. Olson, Michelle Charpentier, Maureen Jennings, James R. Savage, Jr., Steve Savage, Dr. Mary Brown and Cathy Savage-Eysie. Also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews. Loving friend and fellow priest of the late Rev. John P. Kelly. Visiting hours in the Regina Cleri Residence, 60 William Cardinal O'Connell Way, BOSTON Thursday 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Father Jennings will be received back to his parishioners in St. Joseph’s Church, Union Square, Somerville on Friday at 3:00 P.M. He will lie in repose until 7:00 P.M. Relatives, friends and parishioners gratefully invited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated in St. Joseph’s Church Saturday at 11:00 A.M. Principal Celebrant will be the Most Rev. Robert F. Hennessey, Auxiliary Bishop of Boston. Fr. Jennings grew up in St. Anthony’s Parish in Allston. A proud member of the Boston College Class of 1952 he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After receiving his Master’s in Education from Boston State Teachers College, he began his teaching career in Allston. Fr. Jennings entered the seminary in 1957. Following his February 2, 1962 ordination into the priesthood at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood, he celebrated his first Mass in St. Anthony’s Church in Allston. Fr. Jennings served at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Quincy, (1962-1964) and St. Matthews, Dorchester (1964-1966) before coming to St. Joseph’s in Somerville in 1966. During his 46 years at St. Joseph’s he was a beloved pastor and baptized, married and served generations of parishioners until his retirement in 2012. Father most recently was living at the Regina Cleri Residence. In lieu of flowers donations in Father Jennings’ memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 264 Washington Street, Somerville, MA 02143. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
