BONNER James C. “Jim”, 71 of Hanson, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday June 22nd, at his home. He was the husband of Agnes (Whiffen) Bonner. Jim was born and brought up in Boston, son of the late John L. and Angelina (Polichronis) Bonner. He has been a resident of Hanson since 1971. He served his country in the United States Navy, during the Cuban missile crisis for 18 months. Jim was in active duty for 4 years and was in the reserves for 20 years. He received his Associate’s Degree at the Wentworth Institute in Architectural Engineering and his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at U Mass Boston. Jim was a retired Boston police officer of 33 years, first as a patrolman, then in the motorcycle division, he retired in 2003 after 18 years with the bomb squad. He enjoyed Bowling, crossword puzzles, motorcycles and was a car enthusiast. Jim was also an extra in the movie Blown Away. In addition to his wife, Agnes, he is survived by his three sons, Patrick Bonner of Abington, Brian Bonner and his wife Sarah of Whitman and Michael Bonner of Randolph, his sister Barbara Volante Stella of NH., and his 5 grandchildren, Lily and Vivian Bonner, Kayla Maslauskas, Kalli and Jason Bonner. His funeral Service will be held on Friday June 27th at 8:15AM, from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary circle) WHITMAN, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 26th from 4:00-8:00PM.
