MCCORMICK James Joseph, 49, of Newburyport formerly of Needham. Died peacefully after a courageous battle with Melanoma, June 29, 2012. Devoted father to Cal and Hannah McCormick of Newburyport. Beloved son of James A. McCormick and the late Geraldine Ray McCormick of Needham. Loving brother to Laurie McCormick Fischer and her husband Gene of Charlotte North Carolina. Loving uncle and best friend to Michael A. Fischer and his Fianc Tiffany Angeloni of Norwood, Mark, Matt and Allison Fischer of Charlotte North Carolina. Loving nephew of Lorraine King of Needham, Jack McCormick of Marblehead and Maryjane Kelly of Hyde Park. Jimmy was a 1981 Graduate of Needham High School. He loved the ocean, skiing with his children, sports, vacationing with his family and friends. Jimmy battled his cancer without complaint and always with a sense of grace, putting others before himself. He was a fun loving and compassionate man. He welcomed everyone into his heart and was much loved in return. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses of Mass General Hospital 9th floor, for the exceptional care they gave to Jim. A special Thank you to Kimberly O’Hara, loving and supportive friend. Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, Friday, July 6 at 9:00 A.M. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday, July 5, 4:00-8:00 P.M. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of James McCormick may be directed to support the Melanoma Research Fund.
