PATERNA Janet E. (Bowman), of South Boston, born July 4, 1942, entered Heavens Gates on December 26, 2014. Daughter of the late Harrison and Marion (Murray) Bowman. Beloved wife of Salvatore Paterna. Loving mother of Deborah Boyack, her husband Evan of Westminster, Michele Nocera, her husband Joseph of Malden, Joseph Paterna and his wife Carrie of IL. Loving grandmother of five grandchildren: Larissa, Isabella, Jessica Boyack, Angelica Nocera and Angelina Paterna. Dear sister of Marion Bowman of Quincy and Patricia Skeffington of North Andover. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Janet was a full time Mom who later in life loved working at the "L" St. Bathhouse. Visiting hours in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street, South Boston, Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Interment St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all services. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Janet's memory to the Marian Manor Nursing Home, 130 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
