GREENAWAY Joan M., 57, beloved wife of Paul D. Greenaway, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by her family. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she is the daughter of the late Michael and Kathleen (Merrigan) Stanley. Joan grew up in Dublin, Ireland and was graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, with a degree in Nursing, and began as an OB, midwife. She and Paul were married in Ireland, and then later moved to the states, in 1989. As a kind and caring woman, Joan first worked as Registered Nurse at Salem Hospital, and then continued at Lahey North and Burlington, and Care Dimensions Hospice in Danvers. She was nominated for excellence in nursing by "The Boston Globe Solute To Nurses", in 2007. She advocated for her patients, even if it upset others. Joan was a faithful parishioner, to Saint Rose of Lima, in Topsfield. Her greatest joy came from her beautiful daughters. She was engaged in all of their lives, and was truly their biggest advocate and supporter. She loved tea and chocolate cake, redecorating, making "to do lists", dancing to a variety of music, walking on the beach and listening to the ocean. She was a true friend, and we all have memories of "getting advice" and leaning on her shoulder. She touched the hearts of so many. In addition to Paul, her husband of 29 years, she is survived by three daughters: Maeve, Hannah and Fiona Greenaway all of Topsfield; two sisters: Anne Territt and her husband Damien and Deirdre Murray and her husband Jim both of Dublin, Ireland; one brother: Tony Stanley of Dublin, Ireland; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She is predeceased by her brother Paul Stanley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park Street, Topsfield, on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Church on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Joan’s Memory to Hope & Friendship Metastatic Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 185, Middleton, MA 01949 or at www.hopeandfriendship.org. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, BEVERLY. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
