FLANAGAN John P. Flanagan, 80, of York, ME, formerly of Malden, MA, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at home after a long illness. He was born on April 14, 1933 in Malden, MA, one of three sons of the late William and Eleanor (Kierstad) Flanagan and graduated from Malden High School. He worked for the Malden Housing Authority as a Supervisor for many years and was an Auxiliary Policeman with the Malden PD. He was a member of the Irish American Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians both in Malden, MA, and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan J. (Rossi) Flanagan; three sons, John P. Flanagan Jr. of York, ME, Steven M. Flanagan of Arlington, VA, and Edward A. Flanagan and his wife Deborah of York, ME; a daughter, Colleen M. Flanagan-Ormsby and her husband Chuck of North Andover, MA; three sisters, Kathleen Curran and her husband Paul of Malden, MA, Mary Duhy of Stoneham, MA, and Margaret Geraghty of Malden, MA; thirteen grandchildren; a great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Arthur Flanagan. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 14 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, YORK, ME.
