KERN Joseph A., longtime resident of Willow Street, West Roxbury, formerly of Jamaica Plain, August 16, 2015. Age 98. Beloved son of the late Anthony F. and Rose A. (Menz) Kern. Devoted uncle of Judith Lentini and her husband Leo of Foxboro, Jeanne Drummey and her husband John of Mansfield, Robert Kern of Norwood, and Ed Kern and his wife Mary of Wrentham. Also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Clement and Leo Kern. WWII Army Veteran, during the war Joe helped produce prosthetic limbs. Former employee of the MBTA, member of the Carmen’s Union, Local 589, Boston. He was a proponent of distance walking and cycling long before it was popular. Joe loved nature, he enjoyed hiking and spending time in the Arnold Arboretum. Funeral from the P.E. Murray-F.J.
