MCSWEENEY Joseph J. Jr., 80, of Needham, passed away March 23, 2014, after a brief period of declining health. Joseph was the only son of the late Joseph J. McSweeney and Alice, of West Roxbury, MA. His wife, Gertrude L. (McGrath), predeceased him. He is survived by his six children, Maggie DeCrescente of E. Hampton, CT; Linda Henriksen of N. Attleboro, MA; Larry McSweeney of N. Attleboro, MA; Paul McSweeney of Needham, MA; Mark McSweeney of Worcester, MA, and Michael McSweeney of Douglasville, GA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren. Joe was a long-time resident of Needham actively involved with Post 14 Legion Baseball and a trustee of Memorial Park. He worked for the MBTA for many years and was a member of its Pensioner’s Club. His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue, NEEDHAM on Friday March 28 at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4.00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s name to the Needham American Legion Post 14 Baseball, PO Box 920164, Needham MA 04292 would be appreciated.
