FITZGERALD Kevin S. of Beverly, formerly of Manchester-by-the-Sea and Gloucester, passed away surrounded by his family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Bent) Fitzgerald. Kevin attended school at Manchester Jr-Sr High School before transferring to St. Peters Boys High School in Gloucester, Class of 1969. An honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam era. Kevin joined the Manchester Police Force where he served for 7 years. He was appointed a Reserve Officer on the Gloucester Police Force in 1976. He transferred to Gloucester in 1979 where he served until retiring as a Sergeant in 1992. Since retiring from law enforcement, Kevin has been a private investigator, a lobster fisherman & most recently he founded and managed a landscaping service. He was an active outdoorsman, sharing his outdoor adventures with family and friends in every season of the year. An avid and accomplished hunter & fisherman, his greatest joy was introducing his children, nieces and nephews to the beauty of nature during numerous hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing & camping trips. Kevin is survived by his wife Salma; daughters, Kelly and her husband Al Thompson, and Kara Fitzgerald, step-son, Gustavo San Andres, step-daughter, Susan and her husband Peter Colon, grandchildren, London, Hudson, Gabriela and Olivia, and his hunting dog, Daisy. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 62 School St., Manchester, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell - Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, BEVERLY, (North Beverly location), Friday 4:00-7:00 P.M. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Kevin's memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
