DERBYSHIRE Leonard Carl “Lenny”, 90, of Hingham died peacefully on March 2, 2016 at Weymouth Healthcare following a short illness. He was the devoted husband of 37 years to the late Rose C. (Gabriel) Davis Derbyshire who died September 8, 2015. Born in Salem NH, he was a son of the late Frank H. and Arlene G. (Leach) Derbyshire. As a child, Lenny enjoyed spending time at his father’s dairy farm in So. Royalston, VT and he also had an affinity for clam digging that remained with him throughout life. At age 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country with Honor during WWII. He continued his service after the war as a Merchant Marine. Mr. Derbyshire started working as a Rigger for Bethlehem Steel later General Dynamics - in 1942 and, except for the years he spent in the military, remained there until retiring in 1984. He was heavily involved in the Shipbuilders Union, Local 5, as an outspoken advocate for its members. Not one to sit around in retirement, he worked from 1985-1992 as a forklift operator with Armstrong World Industries, and also worked as a Greeter at the entrance to the Walmart store in Quincy for many years as well. Father of Keith Derbyshire and his wife Melba of Bridgewater, Kathy Bugbee and her husband Arthur of Warner NH, Jeffrey Davis and his wife Maxine of Weymouth and Howard David and his wife Sally of Putney VT. Dear brother of Bernice Cinquerano of Hingham, Maxine Maynard of Florida, Shirley Smart of Bellingham, the late Myrle Derbyshire and the late Donald Jones. Cherished Grandfather of Todd Derbyshire, Cassondra Patterson and Brittany Davis, and great grandfather of Dylan and Gavin Patterson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited, will be held Saturday March 12 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St, QUINCY CENTER, with the Rev. Clifford R. Brown, Rector of Christ Church, officiating. Visitation to be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment with military honors to follow at Mt.
