SOARES Lewis Joseph, 75 of York Beach ME, formerly of Arlington and Burlington, MA passed away on Jan. 4, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at home after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, MA on Sept. 13, 1939 the son of Carlos and Ida (Lozzi) Soares. He was raised and educated in Arlington, MA before moving to Burlington with his wife Jeanne. There they raised two sons Michael and John. An avid sports fan and lifelong Yankees fan, Lew enjoyed coaching his sons baseball teams. Lew worked for Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington, MA and Manchester, NH for 42 years then moved to York Beach, ME in 1995. He retired from Sweetheart Plastics in 2002. His last eight years were spent working for the Transportation Division of York Hospital, a job he loved making many friends in the community. Apart from spending time with his family, Lew enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and the Detroit Lions football. He enjoyed working in his yard maintaining his beautiful gardens and going for long walks with his wife of 53 years to both Long and Short Sands beaches. Sunday mornings were dedicated to breakfast at the Union Bluff Hotel overlooking Short Sands Beach. Lew is survived by his wife Jeanne M.(Casalou) Soares; two sons Michael and his wife Colleen (Daniels) Soares of Gloucester, MA and John Soares of Hampton, NH; beloved grandchildren Sarah, Chase, and Alexandra all of Gloucester, MA; a sister Inez (Swiniarski); brothers Charles and his wife Ann Marie of Burlington, MA, and Fredric and his wife Jean of Billerica, MA. He also leaves behind endearing sister- in- law Carole Wesinger of Wakefield, MA; many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by 3 brothers-in-law, Joseph Murray, Gerald Swiniarski and Charles Wesinger. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Thurs., Jan. 8th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., YORK, ME. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Fri., Jan. 9th in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrel Lane, York, Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Assoc., or to .
