THAWLEY Mary Nancy Thawley of Boston, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Born in Boston on October 20, 1947, she was the loving daughter of George and Agnes Thawley. Mary graduated from Winchester HS, Winchester, MA and attended N.E. Broadcasting School and the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Mary was employed NYNEX yellow pages, Lynn, MA for many years as a sales associate. Upon her retirement in 1988, she devoted herself to photography as a professional photographer here in Boston. She was a life-long Celtics and Red Sox fan. Through the 1970s and 80’s, she endeared herself to the Celtics team members and their families, and was known affectionately as “The Lady in Green.” She counted Lary Bird among her many friends. She likewise endeared herself to the Kennedy family. A former resident of 40 Berkely Street, she had resided on Mass. Avenue. for the past four years. She was a member of the Third order of St. Francis and a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s church, Boston. She was baptized at St. Anne’s Church, Manchester, NH. Mary was predeceased by her father George C. Thawley. She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Agnes (Glennon) Thawley and brother, John, of Point Pleasant, NJ, George J. Thawley (Marianne) of Coupeville, WA, Barbara Thawley (Andy) of Kensington, MD, Brian Thawley (Elisa) of New York City, her nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 25 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
