JELLEY Michael J. of Allston, May 27, 2013. Born December 16, 1951; Devoted son of the late Edward J. and Theresa (Gannon) Jelley. Brother of Catherine Evans of Port Ludlow, WA and Edward Jelley of Ashland, MA. Also survived by one niece and four nephews. Graduated from Dorchester High School in 1971. An athlete as a young man, he played football (#47) and baseball for the Dorchester Bears. He was a member of Woodstock Nation, having attended the three-day event when he was only 17. Michael was a writer; his works were an eclectic mix ranging from musings about a mouse to treatise about his political philosophies. He had an adventurous streak, hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail many times alone, and the entire trail at least one time. Mike particularly liked hiking the trails around the Presidential range in New Hampshire, but his favorites were the many trails up Mt. Washington. Mike was a master of Boston sports trivia, he could tell you who made a play in any big game going back decades involving the Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox. Michael lived single and never married, he was a gentle person. Funeral Services and Interment Service Private.
