MAVRO Othon J. of Natick, May 12, 2015. Beloved husband of Georgia S. (Spiropoulos) Mavro. Loving father of Maria Katsikaris and her husband Peter of Wellesley and Nicholas Mavro and his wife Jill of Boston. Grandfather of Diana and George Katsikaris, and John Mavro. Brother of Bette Livesey of Ipswich. He was a family man and patriotic American who cherished his Greek heritage. He loved his wife Georgia for their nearly 50 year marriage. A devoted father, grandfather, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He always had a smile, kind words and sage advice for all who were lucky enough to know him. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and Lowell Tech (UMass Lowell) where he was a member of the Air Force ROTC. A Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force as a Combat Fighter Pilot, he achieved the rank of Capt. He worked for the General Dynamics Electric Boat Division from 1961-1978 rising through the ranks to become the Head of Nuclear Engineering. He then worked for Stone & Webster Engineering from 1978-1996 and was Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors. He was active with the Greek Orthodox Church having served as President of St. Sophia’s in New London, CT and an active member of St. Demetrios Church, Weston where he served on many parish committees.
