STONE Ralph L., Jr. formerly of Randolph, MA, died suddenly in his home in Venice, Florida on December 5, 2015. Mr. Stone was the loving husband of Lois (Tweed) Stone with whom him he shared 61 years of marriage. He is the beloved father of Nancy Bayer of Columbia, South Carolina, Robert Stone and his wife Maryellen, of North Reading, MA, Brenda Mastrandea and her husband Martin of Lake Worth, Florida, and Pamela Whalen and her husband Matthew of Northport, Florida. Mr. Stone is also the cherished grandfather of eleven and great grandfather of fourteen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who remember him and their time together dearly. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents Ralph L. Stone, Sr. and Jenny (Schultz) Stone as well as his sister, Virginia Morse and her husband Roy Morse. Mr. Stone attended the Randolph Public Schools until he left to enroll in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He was proud to receive his high school diploma in a ceremony for veterans in November of 2000. After returning from the war, Mr. Stone became a very proud tool and die maker, working at S.H. Couch and Winchester Industries. Ralph loved to fly, owning several planes and flying all over New England with his childhood friend, Arnold Stymiest. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying fishing until the last year of his life. Mr. Stone particularly loved spending time at the cottage that he built with his father in the early 1940s in West Wareham, MA along the Sippican River. Many joyful hours were spent at "The Cottage" with family and friends where outings and family reunions were often held. Mr. Stone was a diehard Red Sox fan, enjoying the teams' three World Series wins. Mr. Stone loved country music, and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing songs made famous by his favorite artists. In recent years, he and his friends formed a band in Florida that delighted friends with their performances. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ralph L. Stone Jr. to the Jimmy Fund Foundation honoring both his love of the Red Sox and his desire to support cancer research. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Memorial visiting Hours on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4:00 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main Street, RANDOLPH, MA.
