PIRES Resendo A., of Randolph, formerly of New Bedford and Cape Verde, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016, after a long illness. Born and educated in Fogo, Cape Verde, Resendo moved to the United States in 1975. He had bought his own livery medallion and drove throughout the city for many years before his retirement. He was a huge soccer fan and enjoyed cheering for his favorite team, Brazil. Resendo will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Mendes Pires. Loving step-father of Troy Mendes of New Bedford. Step-grandfather of Troy Mendes, Jr., Janessa Mendes and Tyrice Mendes. Devoted brother of Felix Pires of Cape Verde. Dear nephew of Francisco Barbosa of Dorchester and Henriqueta Fernandes of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28) Randolph until 9:00 AM on Friday, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 211 No. Main St., Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 PM. Burial in Central Cemetery, Randolph.
