LYNCH OFM, Rev. Robert B. 96 years of age, a professed Franciscan Friar for 75 years and a priest for 70 years, died at Holy Name Friary, Ringwood, NJ on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Beloved son of the late Francis and Kathryn (Duffy) Lynch, Fr. Lynch is survived by nephews, Michael O’Connor of Bedford, TX, and Thomas O’Connor of Chadds Ford, PA.; a niece Mrs. Kathleen DiLullo; and his Franciscan brothers. He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1943 in the crypt of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception by the Most Reverend Michael Keyes, S.M. Fr. Lynch served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Winsted, Ct. (1944-1947), and Holy Cross Parish in Bronx, N.Y. (1947-1949). He served on the Franciscan mission team giving missions and retreats in parishes throughout the Province and for U.S. Air Force personnel and their families on air bases throughout the United States (1949-1964). From 1964-1967, he served as guardian and pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Winsted, and from 1967-1973, as guardian and rector of St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, Mass. He was director (1969-1973), and assistant director (1973-1983), of the Prudential Center Chapel in Boston. He transferred in 1983 to St. Anthony Residence in Boston, where he served as guardian from 1988 to 1996. He moved to Holy Name Friary in Ringwood on April 17, 2008. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 16 at St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston, MA, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 at St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston. Provincial Vicar Fr. Dominic Monti, OFM, will be principal celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
