ALPERS Ronald J., Retired Medford Police Patrolman of 39 years, age 68, of Wilmington, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 11, 2013. Ronald was the beloved husband of Lisa (Zorzan) Alpers. Devoted father of Maria Henehan and her husband Paul of Arlington, Jacqueline Alpers of Tavernier, FL, Ronald “Butch” Alpers, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Melrose, and David Alpers and his wife Keri of Fayetteville, NC. Loving “Grampy” of Patrick, Casey, Dylan, Matthew, Jack, Samantha, Nolan, and Phinneas. Cherished son of the late Harry and Margaret (Coleman) Alpers. Dear brother of Paul T. Alpers, Richard Alpers and his wife Cheryl and Mary Mello and her late husband Robert, all of Medford, John Alpers and his wife Sue of Londonderry, NH. Loving uncle of Michael, Michelle, Kylie, Ricky, Louise, Derek, Brooke, Jared and several great nieces and nephews. Special Godfather of Marc, Alyssa, Amy and Amanda. Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Avenue (Rte. 62), WILMINGTON, on Wednesday, May 15 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington at 10:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14 from 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald’s name may be made to the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center, Yawkey Center, Suite 7E, Boston, MA 02114.
