JOHNSON Roy Carter Johnson, 87, of South Yarmouth, MA, passed away August 12, 2013. Born March 18, 1926 in Needham, MA. He was the oldest child of Jennie Carter and Putnam Johnson. He played football and baseball at Needham High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II at the age of 17 and served in the European and Pacific Theaters. After returning from the war, he attended Yankton College in South Dakota, where he also played football. He joined the Army in 1955 and served in the Vietnam War, in addition to being stationed in France and Germany. He worked as a criminal investigator and retired in 1975 as Chief Warrant Officer. He then worked in civil service at Otis Air Force Base, retiring in 1988. Roy is survived by his wife, sister, brother, four children, and six grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA, on Friday, August 16, from 4:00-7:00 P.M., followed by burial on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Chandler Gray Cemetery, 161 Old Mill Way, West Yarmouth, MA.
