WEINSWIG Shepard “Shep” A., 79, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born June 1936 to Irving and Eve Weinswig in Boston, MA. On December 21, 1968 he married Lorraine Bowers in Tucson, Arizona. Shep graduated from Harvard University in 1958 and the University of Arizona in 1972. He was employed as an optical engineer at ITT Aerospace for 37 years and was one of their key optical lens designers. He was passionate about his work and specialized in the field of satellite lenses and only retired a few years prior to his passing. He enjoyed reading, playing bridge with Lorraine and his friends, organizing lunches for his former ITT colleagues and investment club members, walking his dog Mr. Paddy, and participating actively with Congregation Achduth Vesholom. Most of all, he loved his family and playing and visiting with his grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, son, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife Lorraine; his daughter, Deborah Weinswig and her husband Maxwell Kahn of New York; his son, Mark Weinswig and his wife ZsuZsi Hamburger of Menlo Park; Mr. Paddy his 16 year old Bichon Frise; 4 grandchildren Ezra, Zahava, Ryan and Evan; 3 sisters Susan Philips of GA, Leslie Greenberg of MA, Ilise Rubinow of PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A time of gathering will be held on November 25 at 11:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home of D.O. McComb & Sons at 1140 Lake Avenue in Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial donations can be made to Congregation Achduth Vesholom or the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
