CARNES Dorothy Mae (Varney) died peacefully, July 6, 2014, surrounded by her cherished children and grandchildren after a brief illness. Dottie lived in the Rock Island Cove section of Quincy for 58 years. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert J Carnes, Sr. She was the loving mother of Robert J. Carnes, Jr. of Whitman, Mary M. Hodgman of Canton, Louise E. Bita of Marshfield, Nancy E. Matos of Quincy, Susan D. Horsford of Quincy, Cynthia J. Wells of West Bridgewater, Jennifer H. Bacon of Hingham and their spouses. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dottie was Prefect of Our Lady’s Sodality at Most Blessed Sacrament Church and a devoted volunteer for Catholic Charities. She worked for many years at Valle’s steakhouse in Braintree, and Stop and Shop of Quincy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. When you think of this lovely lady, remember her with a smile and a big hug. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 11:00 A.M.
