MARQUIS Marie Bernadette, 90 years, born April 23, 1923 of Hyde Park, Boston, Ma. passed on April 15, 2013 at the Hebrew senior life center in West Roxbury, from a long battle with the effects of alzheimer's. Marie was born in Madawaska, Maine. She was the middle child of sixteen children, her parents Eloi and Grace Marquis, of Fort Kent ME. Marie had two daughters Sandra Marquis of Quincy MA, and Rachel M. Cullen and husband Mike of Mansfield MA. Marie has one granddaughter Tara and husband Fred Wilson with Marie's three great grandchildren, Destany, Angel, Christian. Marie's only surviving sibling is her younger brother Eugene of Old Orchard ME. And there are many beloved nieces and nephews. Marie was a strong and independent woman even from an early age. She had to leave home at ten years old and go live with relatives during the depression. As she grew up Marie moved to New York City where she where attended a design school for women's fashion. Marie became an accomplished designer and seamstress, a trade she kept well into her seventies. In the late 1950s Marie lived on Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain MA. Sandra and Rachel where born here. Some time later Marie took up residence in Hyde Park, where she lived for over thirty years. Marie loved to sew and had many long time customers, she was also always working in her gardens, where she grew everything from raspberries, blueberries, and peaches to tomatoes, beans and awesome flowers. Marie was a long time faithful member of the Hyde Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Marie, a kind and generous woman who touched and helped influence the lives of many people especially the young and those who had less. Marie's faith in God was strong, her love of people and nature was heartfelt and genuine. Marie will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched and loved in a Memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 27 at 4:00 P.M. At the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hyde Park, Boston, MA at 1345 River Street.
