Anny I. Hanson(1929 - 2010)

Anny I. Hanson passed away peacefully at her home with family on Jan. 24, 2010, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Anny was born "Anny Ingeborg Wolfrum" on Sept. 17, 1929, to Hermann and Luise Wolfrum in Erlangen, Germany. Her childhood and teen years were spent in Erlangen with three sisters. Anny had many interesting stories of growing up during World War II. She came to the United States in 1948 at the age of 19, and after living in numerous areas across the nation, she settled in Great Falls.

Anny was very proud to become a citizen of the United States while living in Great Falls in 1951. There she met and married C.R. "Bob" Hanson. In 1971 Bob and Anny moved the family to Helena where she lived the remainder of her life.

Anny's true lifetime passion was her family. Some of her most cherished memories were the building of and spending time at the family cabin on Holter Lake. She worked in the Great Falls school system assisting her children and others as a teacher's aide. She also worked for various insurance companies and retired from the state auditor's office in 1985.

Her favorite memories with family included fishing and time at the cabin at Holter Lake, backpacking and camping at Gibson reservoir , and skiing out of the condo at Bridger Bowl. In her later years, she loved Helena's tradition of "Symphony Under the Stars." Mom had her favorite routines in Helena including the grocery ads and shopping, ice cream cones from Hardees and BK Joe's coffee.

Anny was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her three sisters, Elisabeth, Elfie and Herta, all residing in Germany; sons, Charles "Chuck" Jr., wife Judy and grandsons Brady and Riley; Harold, wife Collette and grandchildren, Alex and Regan all of Helena; William "Bill," wife Rose Ann, granddaughter Maryanne of Bozeman and granddaughter Erica (Luke) VanAlstine and great-granddaughter Mackenzie of Grand Forks, N.D.

A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Anny's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 330 Lola St., Helena.

Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

"Mom, you spent your whole life making a wonderful family, and you will be forever in our hearts."
