HELENA -- Daniel Miller Evans III, 76, of Helena passed away peacefully November 29, 2007, after a courageous fight with lung cancer.
Daniel was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Ridley Park, Penn., to Benjamin and Elizabeth Evans. He served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War before his honorable discharge.
Daniel attended Colorado University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Daniel worked for the Bureau of Reclamation until his retirement. He then served with FEMA during any disaster events.
Daniel enjoyed his family, his beloved Patricia, reading and nature. He had a great sense of humor and was always there for his family.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his four children, Elizabeth (Fred) LeLacheur of Helena, Benjamin Evans of Seattle, Wash., Daniel (Jennifer) Evans of Sugar Land, Texas, and Susan (Loren) Simons of League City, Texas; four grandchildren, Alexa and Alyssa Simons of League City and Alison and Will Evans of Sugar Land; and two sisters, Ann Hult of Tucson, Ariz., and Betty Schuder of Casselberry, Fla.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service celebrating Daniel's life is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Hunters Pointe, 2801 Colonial Dr. in Helena. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison.
