John Thomas Pinczes, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 27, 2013. He was born in Carrellton, Ohio, to Joseph and Katie Pinczes. In 1953, he moved from Akron, Ohio, to Bozeman to live with his brother, Joe, and his family. There he met Elinor Harvey. After serving in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959, he returned to Bozeman where he married Elinor on Aug. 13, 1960. They welcomed Dennise to the family on their first anniversary. Dennise was followed by a daughter, Katie, and son, John.

After they were married, John worked for Northern Auto. John, or Dennis as many called him, was a dedicated employee for the Forest Service for over 40 years. He scaled logs, cruised timber for sales, maintained water sheds, supervised tree thinning and planting and even fought forest fires.
Dad loved hunting, working in his yard, weekly football pools with John, watching sports, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Katie; brothers, Steve, Joe and his wife, Wally; sisters, Theresa Lange and her husband, Whitey, and Catherine Habyan; daughter, Dennise Stannard.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor, of 53 years; brother, George (Josephine) Pinczes; daughter, Katie Kuchinsky; granddaughter, Hannah; son, John (Jennifer) Pinczes; grandson, Dennis; son-in-law, Mark Stannard; grandchildren, Casey, Alec and Mac; one great-grandson, Layten.
Memorials may be made in his name to Gallatin National Forest Arbor Day Foundation, 3710 Fallon St. Ste C, Bozeman, MT 59718 or to a breast cancer
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
