Michael Owen Shepherd, 62, of Bozeman passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. He was born Dec. 18, 1951 in Raleigh, N.C. to Weldon and Roxana (Brown) Shepherd.

Michael attended the University of Florida and received a Master of Fine Arts in architecture in 1981. In addition to his private architecture practice, he also taught architecture at Montana State University for several years. He was an internationally recognized architect and received multiple awards, including the National AIA Housing Award in 2007; the FA/AIA Excellence in Architecture Award in 1987, 1988, and 1992; and the FA/AIA Unbuilt Design Award in 1985.
He enjoyed fly fishing, traveling the world, and horseback riding. He especially loved spending time with friends.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Katherine Clark and Elliot Good, and four grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the local food bank would be welcomed.
