Al passed away on March 27, 2014 in Benton, Ark. near his sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Dale Holmlund, several months after being diagnosed with COPD. He was born Nov. 12, 1951 in Miles City, Mont. to Maria and Albert Ackerman of Baker, Mont. He attended school in Baker until his parents moved to Bozeman in 1965. There he graduated from high school and went on to work in construction, and on oil rigs in Wyoming and Texas. Al battled mental illness most of his adult life. Tina and Dale took him under their wings and he moved with them as they were reassigned by the Air Force. After their retirement, Al bought a home in Timbo, Ark. not far from Tina and Dale's farm.

Al enjoyed music, playing his guitars, his large collection of comic books, the farm animals, drawing/art and working around his house. He had a most generous spirit, great sense of humor and compassion for those close to him. He was preceded in death by both his parents. Left to cherish his memory and celebrate the freeing of his spirit are his three loving sisters, Tanya (Nick) Hura of Cleveland, Ohio, Tina (Dale) Holmlund of Alco, Ark. and Paulina (John) Brengle of Puyallup, Wash.; nephews, Paul (Susan) Brengle and Victor (Jean) Hura, several cousins and friends.

Cremation has taken place and ashes will be inurned in Bozeman near his parents.
