Alice Mae (Todd) Gilchrist passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 in Helena surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 16, 1925 in Bozeman to Lester H. and Alice (Burkenpas) Todd. Alice lived in Bozeman her entire life except for the last eight years when she moved to Helena to be closer to her daughter. She attended Bozeman schools and graduated from Gallatin County High School. After high school she worked at Montana State College. She married the love of her life Ralph Lee Gilchrist on June 16, 1946 in Bozeman at Grand Avenue Christian Church. After raising her family she returned to work at MSU in the alumni office until she retired.

Alice was a wonderful homemaker, making everyone feel welcome in her home. She was active in family activities as well as her church, Camp Fire Girls, many Masonic organizations. She was always a willing and friendly helper for all who needed her. She will be remembered as a gracious lady and true friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ralph. She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Gilchrist of Helena and Denise Sallee (Loren) of Kalispell. She also leaves her two special grandchildree Katrina (Sallee) Hubner (Mike) of Belgrade, and Travis Sallee (Sandy) of Kalispell. Also, her extra special loves, her great grandchildren Shaphan and Molly Hubner and Cielo and Isabella Sallee. She is surved by her sister Theresa Sabo of Billings, special friends Linda and Cliff Roessner, many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Sunset Hills Cemetery followed by a time to greet the family at the basement of Alice's church, Grand Avenue Church. Memorials may be made to the Buddy Walk for Down syndrome ( or the Gallatin County Historical Society. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
