Althea Joan Flikkema (58) gave herself into God's keeping Jan. 3, after a battle with cancer. From her birth to her last breath she was a child of God and now she is home with Him.

Born and raised in the Churchill area, she and Matt Flikkema made their home in Belgrade these last 30 years. Friends and neighbors saw Althea watching Manhattan Christian School sports, serving her customers at Valley Bank of Belgrade, and singing in the choir at her lifelong church home, Bethel CRC on Churchill. Althea cherished camping and traveling with her family, attending events in her community, and snowmobiling every President's Day weekend with her friends. Her grandchildren – Eli, Mary, and Hanna – were her pride and joy, and she was always ready with a picture to share. These last several years she loved to learn more about her Lord at Bible Study Fellowship and she rejoiced in the knowledge that her children and grandchildren love Him too.

While some have gone before her there are many who will join her later in heaven including her loving husband, Matt, son, Kevin (Sandra, Eli, Mary) of Germany, daughter, Janelle (David) Lee of Chicago, and daughter, Nicole (Tom, Hanna) Cousineau of Estes Park. Also following her to heaven someday are her parents, Arie and Bernice Dyk of Churchill, her sister, Colleen and brothers, Brent and Dan, and numerous well-loved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 4, at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. at Churchill Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Bethel CRC at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be sent to Manhattan Christian Schools at 8000 Churchill Road, Manhattan, MT, 59741 or
