Charles Harris Kirk, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday in his home on South 19th Avenue, attended by his loving wife of 61 years. After growing up in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a stint in the Navy, and marriage to Pat with a honeymoon in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Mr. Kirk received a BS from U of Penn in 1952, and an MBA from USC in 1957. He also started his computing career in Southern California during this time at Rockwell International North American Aviation, Hunts Foods, and finally at Hughes Aircraft Co, where he worked for 25 years in programming/analyst positions in Fullerton and El Segundo, California, Liège, Belgium, and Buckley ANGB in Aurora, Colorado. Mr. Kirk took an early retirement in 1984 to return to Bozeman to look after his parents, Herbert and Eleanor Kirk.
Charles was a long time member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and Rotary clubs in Colorado and Bozeman.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; sister, Meme Harris of Bolinas, California; children, David Kirk and Janell Kinzie of Lovettsville, Virginia, Diane Kirkpatrick of Longmont, Colorado, and Doug Kirk and Jill Graham of Bozeman; grandchildren, Cassius and Ariel Sims of Brooklyn, New York, Charles and Sonia Sims of El Segundo, California, Cameron and Ashley Kirk of Bailey, Colorado, Caitlin Kirk of Bozeman, and Daniel Kirk of Sterling, Virginia; and many friends and family around the globe.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Bozeman.
