Charles William Cooper, 85, passed away Friday June 6, 2008 at his home in Three Forks.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born May 1, 1923, the middle of three children to Orie Alvin Cooper and Anna Christina (Kroeger) Cooper in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm, played football in school and enlisted in the Navy immediately following graduation in 1940.
After serving in WWII, he married Vivian Louise Acheson on August 18, 1944. Together they raised four children in the Minneapolis area.
When Charlie retired from the Minnesota school system, he and Vivian moved to Montana to be closer to their children. Here they would operate the Paper Dollar Bar in Sweetgrass, as well as Charlie's Pizza locations in both Sweetgrass and Three Forks.
His hobbies included gardening, fishing and playing poker, although failing eyesight in recent years would force him to give up the game.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian in 2002 as well as his parents.
Charlie is survived by his brother Laverne (Pat) Cooper of Tacoma, WA; sister Fernita Woods of Hopkins, Minn.; daughter Janice (Jim) Neufeld of Three Forks; sons Bill (Melva) Cooper of Shelby, Stan Cooper of Three Forks and Dan (Linda) Cooper of Great Falls; 16 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, June 9 at 3 p.m. at the Three Forks Christian Center.
Memorials may be made to the Three Forks V.F.W. Post 7621 in Charlie's memory.
